Super Bowl Car Commercial Update

As they say in the big game, it ain’t over til it’s over.

Just over a week ago, I wrote about which Super Bowl car commercials were getting the most hits on YouTube. You can read it here (complete with updated numbers). At that point, Audi and its exploding vampire headlights had a solid lead. But that was then.

Clint Eastwood and Chrysler win the Super Bowl

Controversy sells and it’s changed the top five as well. Chrysler’s Halftime commercial about America coming back caused lots of political types to wax and whine about what it really meant. Silly me, I thought it was a car commercial pumping Chrysler and throwing in some patriotic heart-strings in an effort to forget that Fiat now owns that American icon (Chrysler, not Clint Eastwood). Anyway, the result is that the Halftime commercial has now surged into the lead, blowing the competition away with more than 10.5 million hits on YouTube.

And since sex sells just as well as controversy, Fiat’s Seduction spot is now number two with 7.4 million YouTube views. Chevy’s Ford bashing spot is third and Audi and the vampires have sunk to fourth.
